Set on a converted Thames barge on an Essex estuary, an older and wealthy, dying woman, Valerie, has to say goodbye to her long-term - much younger - male companion, Dan. Valerie has asked her friend of a similar age, Maggie, to come and take over of her care and then accompany her home for her final days.
