So Long (We Dreamt of This)

Synopsis

Someone who we never see – a 'nobody' – tries to tend to their plants, but persistent inner voices draw them into an alienating place with the promise of communication through pure thought. Where are we in this vision? Are we an observer of this experience, or experiencing it ourselves? Where is the division between us?

Two puppets (a younger and an older one) holding a clock surronded by jars Pickled

Director: Fanny Capu

Year: 2026

All Edie has ever known is her Granny’s world. A crumbling mansion, where Edie does whatever Granny does. And what Granny does is pickle. Together they preserve everything - cucumbers, of course, and green pickle juice, yes, and Edie’s childhood toys as well; plus all the family heirlooms of a vast and forgotten empire. Everything must be pickled. It’s no easy task to capture all these memories forever. Sometimes, Edie gets a little distracted. In fact, sometimes Edie doesn’t want to pickle at all. No, what she really wants is to dance. Luckily, Granny keeps her on track. Best friends, working side by side. But there’s something Edie doesn’t know: it’s all just training, for the most important pickling yet. Granny has taught Edie everything she knows, and now it’s time for Granny Pickleworth to join her ancestors. It's also time for Edie to decide what life she wants to live.

Every Moon Is Atrocious Every Moon Is Atrocious

Director: Yvonne McDevitt

Year: 2026

Structured as a psychogeographic voyage, the film explores place, memory, and sensation through the inner life of a poet whose sense of self gradually dissolves into cinematic reflection. Departing from conventional documentary forms, EVERY MOON IS ATROCIOUS invites audiences into a layered sensory environment where image, sound, and language operate associatively. At its core lies the poetry of the late Niall McDevitt (1967-2022), whose work forms the conceptual and emotional spine of the film, shaping a trance-like rhythm that mirrors the protagonist’s journey towards death and the unknown. Yvonne McDevitt’s filmmaking resists separating form from feeling. Dreamlike visuals, intense durational shots, and richly layered sound design prioritise emotional resonance over linear narrative. Fragmented imagery and superimpositions draw viewers into a meditative mode, presenting the film as a cinematic drift that charts inner terrains as much as physical ones. Movement through cities and coastlines becomes inseparable from movement through memory, grief, and desire. Official Selection Dublin International Film Festival 2026 - World premiere
