Synopsis

Touching The Void is based on the international best seller by renowned climber Joe Simpson, which describes one of the most extraordinary true stories of survival and adventure of our time. The book recounts a climb Simpson and his climbing partner, Simon Yates, undertook in the Peruvian Andes in 1985. The two young and ambitious mountaineers set off to scale the hitherto unclimbed west face of Siula Grande, a remote and treacherous 21,000ft peak.
 
Starting the descent through a blizzard, Simpson fell, shattering his leg. An heroic battle for survival unfolded in which both men were faced with life or death decisions which test the human spirit to its limit. Simpson and Yates returned to Siula Grande together for the first time to retell their story for the camera.

Set amidst the pristine beauty of the tiny Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, our story follows the footsteps of Dondup, a handsome young government officer stationed in a rural outpost. But instead of revelling in the dignity of his position, Dondup has attitude. He is convinced that leaving Bhutan for the western world will satisfy all that he craves.
 
When opportunity knocks, it comes with a deadline. Dondup seizes the moment, lies to his senior officer, throws his suitcase out the window and hastily departs - unfortunately a touch too late.  He misses his bus to the nearby town of Thimphu and, to his dismay, is left stranded on the road with two other travellers heading in the same direction - a Buddhist monk and a simple apple seller.  Dondup's fear of spending a dark night under the stars alone subdues his arrogant display towards his fellow travellers and he joins them for a night around their fire on the roadside.
 
'Be careful with dreamlands..' the monk tells Dondup upon hearing of his plans to go to America, '...when you wake up, it might be unpleasant.' To pass the night away the good natured monk begins to tell the tale of Tashi, a lazy, disinterested student of sorcery who dreams of distant 'greener pastures' inhabited by beautiful women. One day his younger brother gives Tashi a magic potion that transports him through distant mountains and forests where he is unceremoniously dumped. In blinding rain the exhausted traveller stumbles upon an isolated hut where a cantankerous old man Agay and his beautiful young wife Deki offer him shelter.
 
The monk's tale continues throughout the journey as they make their way along the majestic mountain roads. Getting a lift for all of them becomes a mission and walking to Thimphu seems to be their destiny. Along the way they meet a series of colourful local characters but it is when Dondup meets a local beauty, Sonam, that his world starts to alter and his footsteps begin to falter. Will the monk's playful teasing change Dondup's view of his 'primitive' homeland, or will it be Sonam's beguiling smile?
 
Is he blinded by his hopes and schemes, is it lust or love, and what of his 'great American dream'?  Dondup is wavering - should he leave or should he stay? The monk with the permanent smile knows. With his deadline looming, a ride finally appears but can only take two of the travellers...

An office worker is robbed at gunpoint during his lunch hour by a female mugger, which leaves him reluctant to report it to the authorities. This simple tale about a dangerous game of mugging and sexual role play stars Ian Hart (Strictly Sinatra, Harry Potter) and Christine Tremarco (Swallow, Nice Guy Eddie) as the two main players, locked in a dangerous game of escalating violence.
 
Trigger Happy, written by John Boas and directed by Andrew Gunn, is an edgy drama of crime and dark fantasy, in which crime does pay.

Trollywood initially started out as a collection of still photographs. The director, up and coming UK talent Madeleine Farley, was fascinated by the isuue of homelessness in Los Angeles, a city renowned - or at least in popular conception- for its opulence. As a symbol of material divide, Madeleine decided to focus on the humble shopping carts littered around LA as a central theme- ie. as both consumer tool to some whilst being a portable home to others.
 
Through her time spent photographing the homeless and the numerous conversations that ensued, Madeleine soon realised that there was a vast untapped wealth of personal testimony and that only a documentary could do the subject justice. This view was further cemented when a news story broke about an LA legal case involving the making and profiteering from a video called 'Bumfights' in which homeless people, often under the influence of alcohol, were filmed inflicting harm on themselves. The makers of the film, whilst making in the region of $6m dollars, were let off with 250hrs of community service.
 
Trollywood will focus on interviews with the homeless, Government officials, Charitable foundation workers, Mental health organisations etc. in a moving, well rounded look at a serious issue. More than anything, the programme will aim to be educational and uplifting, presenting homelessness with a human face and also providing an awareness of various remedial organisations. Essentially, Madeleine's intent is to show that amongst great material deprivation there exists a unique culture with its own sense of spiritual wealth.

Synopsis

A vagrant awakes on a platform in an underground station and finds a strange box nearby him. He opens the box and a powerful and malevolent force is transferred to him.
 
We then follow the journey of three separate passengers, travelling the routes they most likely make every working day. But this time their journeys will be anything but normal as they encounter the vagrant and his new 'powers'.
 
Tube is a vision of how an everyday routine journey can quickly become a nightmare with terrifying results when one is stalked in a confined space which is the London Underground.

Synopsis

Diagrams of chemistry apparatus and educational film footage react and combine in this quirky interpretation of a poem by Nobel Laureate chemist Roald Hoffmann. The film is an experiment to illustrate how technology changes the way we represent the world with results that prove ironic and inconclusive.

Jamie and Jody are identical twin brothers. They not only share their appearance, they also share Candy - Jody's high-school sweetheart. Another thing the twins share is a passion for killing; their preference being high-school students - 'people closer to our own age.'

After a number of killings, Kristina (Candy's confidante) gets suspicious; as a result the twins kill Kristina rather unceremoniously. Candy decides to pay her boyfriends a visit, only to witness the twins decapitating her best friend. Jamie and Jody kidnap Vincent Fox and take him to a high-school party. The police show up, as does the media, and so Jamie demands that a news crew documents the last moments of Vincent Fox's short life. The rules are pretty simple - 'we're going to kill Vincent Fox live on TV!'

The Slits travelled and toured widely as a group. Accompanying them during 1980 and 1981, Christine Robertson filmed intermittently on Super-8, collected whilst managing The Slits. Typical Girls was completed after the group split up in 1982. Filmed on stage in Berlin and Italy and off stage in the Mojave Desert and Death Valley, the film gives an experimental flavour of the unconventional lifestyle the group lived and the unique music that came out of it.
