Synopsis

This short film tells the story of Ash, a mixed-race girl from Old Trafford, Manchester, UK. On a youth referral scheme, we see Ash travel to the iconic Salford Lads Club where she takes up boxing as a way of dealing with her troubled past. By portraying Ash’s experience of the sport, the film highlights how the boxing ring can be a neutral space where race and neighborhood politics are left outside.

The film looks at not only Ash’s own experience of racism, but also the preconceptions she and others hold about other people and places.

Clench demonstrates how boxing can become the ultimate visual tool for communication between generations, highlighting that every person has a story to tell regardless of how they look.

Synopsis

A corporation plans to develop a residential tower block into luxury city apartments. As the residents galvanise, the corporation sends in someone to 'shake them up'.

The Horror of The Dolls features a strong ensemble cast, inter-twined narratives and an iconic piece of London architecture. The narrative is underpinned by the wealth divide, untouchable high-finance, malleable politicians and the resolve of a community under assault.

All wrapped in a blood-soaked and stylised horror thriller set against the breath-taking cityscapes of contemporary London. The Horror of The Dolls is a terrifying, atmospheric and unpredictable journey for the audience.

Key influences on the project are The Shining, Blue Velvet, The Wild Bunch, Short Cuts and Antichrist.

Synopsis

In a Palestinian refugee camp a class of five-year-olds discuss their lives and the future whilst the camera floats from the centre of Beirut to the Israeli border; this is a reverse journey for the audience as they begin where the displaced Palestinians flight ended, and they end where the Palestinians began, in the occupied territories.
