Synopsis

From a war against Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan to a legal battle in the UK, Marine A (w/t) details one of the most controversial events in the 20-year war on terror. On the 15th September 2011 an unarmed and wounded Taliban insurgent was shot in the chest by a British Royal Marine, who went on to tell his men that he “just broke the Geneva Convention”. With an exclusive interview with Alexander Blackman, known to most as Marine A, it reveals the story of that one day in Helmand. The 1x90’ feature documentary includes never seen before, recently recovered, combat footage, and many who have never spoken on camera before, Marine A takes audiences into the dark heart of those minutes in battle and the ensuing four-year legal campaign that his wife waged to set him free.

This book with artistic custom cover was completely pulled off DIY from concept through marketing through finance through product development through post production through distribution and provided a main funding source for the completed PiL album called Commercial Zone 2014. The book recalls the DIY British music/art/design/cultural/political revolution that began in streets of West London and went global in 1976 as told to Kathy DiTondo by Keith Levene, founder member of "the only band that matters" - the Clash.. The Clash along with the Sex Pitols were the two major bands on the West London scene.

Borneo, the world’s oldest rainforest, a culture near extinction. All destroyed by a sporting event viewed by billions. Three brothers from the forest, a film crew and their activist friends become undercover investigators, following the stolen wood to its final stop: Tokyo’s new Olympic Stadium. TOUCH WOOD plays out in the build-up to the approaching Olympic spectacle, the camera following a group of friends across oceans, through a spectrum of cultures, to reveal an honest tale of a peoples’ attempt to understand the forces behind the destruction of their home. This journey, however, is not without dangers. Spying on illegal companies has obvious risks but the alienating world they discover on the way has more sinister perils. In this character-driven documentary, the brothers are a symbol of the exploited. The Tokyo Olympics in contrast typifies the insatiable consumer society validating this type of profiteering. Whilst highlighting these clear injustices, TOUCH WOOD provides a window into how indigenous peoples view the world that is driving so much change within their own communities. In doing so, exploring the costs of humanity’s addiction to progress and the effect it is having on the globe’s most vulnerable peoples and the ecosystems they inhabit.

Fashion designer Alexander McQueen experienced a spectacular but tragic rise and fall. The working class son of a taxi driver, McQueen rose rapidly from an apprentice on London’s prestigious Savile Row, where his clients included Prince Charles and Mikhael Gorbachev, where he soon developed a reputation for his immaculate tailoring skills. He would go on to design the wardrobe for David Bowie’s 1996-1997 tours, including the Union Jack coat worn by Bowie on the 'Earthling' album cover. As he developed another reputation as the fashion world’s enfant terrible, he would go on to become head designer at Givenchy, before launching his own self-named label. He was famous for his unconventional, highly stylised and theatrical fashion shows. Openly gay, McQueen’s growing fame and fortune also witnessed an increase in drug dependence as well as a slew of failed relationships. He committed suicide in 2010, nine days after his mother Joyce had died of cancer. Based on Andrew Wilson's biography 'Blood Beneath the Skin', the film follows McQueen and his creative process in the months leading up to his 2009 show where he stunningly re-worked his greatest designs from the past 15 years, providing an intimate portrait of the man behind the brand and a celebration of the genius whose designs were just as much art as fashion.

Based on the memoir of 45 year-old Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a man who was a suspected terrorist and has been incarcerated at Guantanamo bay for 14 years without ever being charged with a crime or having the opportunity to defend himself in court. Slahi is the son of a nomadic herder who has been subjected to “enhanced interrogation” techniques that include everything but waterboarding. His memoir claims he was subjected to being kept awake for days, having his ribs broken, being blindfolded and taken out to sea where he was told he would be executed.

Michael X (born Michael de Freitas) emerged as a leader in the Black Power movement in the 1960s. He was instrumental in organising the first outdoor Notting Hill Carnival and became friends with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 1969 he became the leader of a Black Power commune in London but when it burnt down he fled to his native Trinidad. He set up another commune but that also burnt down in a fire. The bodies of two people, including his cousin Joe Skerritt, were discovered and he was sentenced to death for Skerritt’s murder in 1972 and was hanged in 1975. The case has been the subject of several conspiracy theories.

Following them from the auction room to the African continent, where they claim that their sport actually saves lives in bringing much needed funds to impoverished communities, and help in the conservation effort. Each year, the club itself comes under intense media scrutiny and severe criticism for it’s annual big game auction, and it is here that the arguments in favour of trophy hunting can be heard at their most impassioned. For the first time a documentary film crew is given access into the club's inner circle, giving the opportunity to some of the world’s most prolific (professional and amateur) Trophy Hunters to tell their side of this story. This revealing and at times shocking film seeks to shine a light on the big questions in this debate. Does trophy hunting actually help or hinder conservation? In this most expensive of ‘sports’ where does their money go, and who ultimately benefits?
