Synopsis

After the death of their ill-tempered and controlling father, middle-aged sisters Constantia (Con) and Josephine (Jug), find themselves at a loss. The story takes place in 1920 and is set within a European townhouse where Constantia and Josephine have always lived with their domineering father. The two sisters' mother died when they were young, and they have spent their lives enslaved to the rhythm and routine of Father’s house. Even in death they fear their father and imagine him springing out of the wardrobe or shouting at them from his grave. Over time, their father’s control diminishes and they find comfort in taking part in peaceful activities in each other’s company. An unexpected visitor also helps them to find the courage to begin their lives anew. A merry, rude, and lyrical, animated adaptation of the modernist short story written by Katherine Mansfield in 1920. In this adaptation the sisters will begin to assert themselves in joyful, unexpected ways that could only be depicted in animation. Synopsis

Retracing Allen Ginsberg’s 1967 ‘trip’ to the Llanthony Valley, Wales Visitation follows an attempt to channel the poet and document his route through enactments, alignments and apparitions. Using clues gleaned from Ginsberg’s poem of the same name, the film unfolds as a semiotic trail where the filmmaker’s encounters echo and accumulate. Handheld footage of tourists, sleeping horses, birdcalls and day/night cycles signpost a route as it begins to form. A diary, a dramatisation and a spiritual road movie, Wales Visitation traces not a fixed path, but the conditions under which something might be called back. Synopsis

Adapted from the 1954 novel by William Golding, the story of a group of young schoolboys who find themselves stranded on a Pacific island following a deadly plane crash during a nuclear war. In an attempt to remain civil, the boys organise themselves, led by Ralph and supported by the group’s intellectual, Piggy. But as the youngest members begin to share sightings of a terrifying beast, hunter Jack begins to wrestle for leadership. Jack Thorne’s adaptation marks the first time 'Lord of the Flies' has been brought to television. Faithful to the original novel, the series delves further into the book’s emotive themes: human nature, the loss of innocence and boyhood masculinity. Each of the four episodes is titled after a character at the core of the story – Ralph, Piggy, Simon and Jack – offering a subtly different perspective on the boys’ collective plight and manner in which they cope with their predicament. Synopsis

Set on the Aran Islands, Ireland, the film follows Nora, a retired forensic ecologist, whose fading memory may hold the key to solving a forgotten environmental crime responsible for climate change. As the island's landscape erodes, so too does Nora's recollection of the past, including crucial details about an ecological disaster linked to the island's demise. A determined detective arrives, hoping to extract vital information from Nora and stop future disasters. However, he quickly finds that it’s too late. Translated and narrated by Inis Oírr novelist Máire Uí Dhufaigh, SEA MONSTER (OLLPHÉIST MHARA) explores the erosion of memory, language, and landscape. Nora’s struggle to remember becomes a powerful metaphor for the larger global environmental crisis - and how the world around her, like her mind, is slipping away. In this evocative film, the fading of Nora's memories mirrors the irreversible effects of climate change, a poignant reminder that some losses, once they occur, cannot be undone.
