Synopsis

Heartbroken, grieving, and tormented by visions of his hero's death, Mickey Sharpe finds himself stuck in the middle of two opposing gangs as he tries desperately to finish the exposing documentary his best friend died trying to finish. Behind the antics and actions played out between our four main friends and the gangsters and criminals they encounter along the way, is a suggestion of the difficulties and questions that young adults face today in work, in love, and in preparing for life in the future. The prospect of being able to afford to raise a family, of owning one's own home, or even getting a job with a half-decent salary to start with looks vanishingly small these days - Perhaps crime appears to offer a more achievable route to affording such basic ideals... This is a poignant look at some of the challenges and dilemmas that our modern society has created for the younger generations. Are we making a brighter future for our children or are we actually making life tougher?

THREE MINUTES - A LENGTHENING presents a home movie shot by David Kurtz in 1938 in a Jewish town in Poland and tries to postpone its ending. As long as we are watching, history is not over yet. The three minutes of footage, mostly in colour, are the only moving images left of the Jewish inhabitants of Nasielsk before the Holocaust. The existing three minutes are examined to unravel the stories hidden in the celluloid. The footage is imaginatively edited to create a film that lasts more than an hour. Different voices enhance the images. Glenn Kurtz, grandson of David Kurtz, provides his knowledge of the footage. Maurice Chandler, who appears in the film as a boy, shares his memories. Synopsis

The world began with the Big Bang, we are told the walls of Jericho were decimated by trumpets, to music being used as torture or control, to persuade or even calm, to the soundtracks to war and music for revolutions. What is music and sound's relationship to control and power? We have channeled this question through candid conversations with neural networks, by training machines on a collected sonic and visual history of noise, metal and rock music, as well as music that is sacred and spiritual. The project explores ideas around music as a weapon, as a cultural shifter, manipulator, unifier and ultimately, as a force. The result is a non-stop fictional band performing endlessly, 24 hours a day. As the music infinitely changes, unique combinations of sound and visual will never be repeated. We have collaborated with AI music pioneers, Dadabots, combining machine learning, audio-responsive assets & procedural visuals inside VRChat to create a fully immersive real-time interactive environment. We are sonically at the mercy of the machine, as one never knows what will be performed on arrival.
