Synopsis

Two out of work actors attempt the impossible task of mounting a full production of Hamlet inside the ultra violent world of Grand Theft Auto, shot entirely in game.
It’s January 2021. The UK has just entered its 3rd lockdown and all theatres remain closed. For actors Sam and Mark, the future looks bleak. As the pandemic drags on Mark, who lives alone is increasingly socially isolated, while Sam is panicking about how he is going to support his family. They channel their midlife frustrations by immersing their avatars in the horrifically violent yet beautifully rendered virtual world of Grand Theft Auto online. They steal cars and shoot strangers, but also find moments of calm reflection walking through meadows of wildflowers. In one gaming session they stumble across a theatre and have an idea. Why not stage Hamlet inside the game? Well, there are several reasons why not, chiefly that most people in the game are intent on murderous destruction, not polite appreciation of a theatrical production. But wasn’t theatre just as dangerous and rowdy a business in Shakespeare’s time, and isn’t Hamlet, a play about revenge the perfect choice for this place?

Synopsis

A short film centered around Naira, a young man trying to find his place in the world. Feeling imprisoned by his surroundings he decides to take matters into his own hands, in an attempt to escape his reality. A moment of magic soon turns into a nightmare, when Naira bumps into two people from the world he is trying to break free from.
As people we all move through different space(s) each and every day. SPACE(S) is a film everyone can relate to, highlighting the importance of green spaces, intergenerational connection, role models and not letting anything stop you from being you.

Synopsis

Co-created by the a group autistic directors, the Neurocultures Collective, (Sam Chown-Ahern, Georgia Bradburn, Benjamin Brown, Robin Elliott-Knowles, Lucy Walker) and artist-filmmaker Steven Eastwood, THE STIMMING POOL is a hybrid film that enters the possibilities of a world informed by neurodiverse perspectives. The film reflects a spectrum of autistic experience, and it’s drifting form is built around the concept of an autistic camera, whose curiosity discovers a relay of subjects who stray through the world, revealing environments often hostile to autistic experience - such as a hectic workplace and a crowded pub - and quiet spaces that offer respite from them. Each character exists in an apparently separate world. Some are concealing being autistic and dealing with feelings of isolation, others thrive in the communities around them. But gradually we come to realise they have a shared objective: to find a place uninhibited by the tests and restrictions of normative society: this is the Stimming Pool.

Synopsis
