Synopsis

Jacob Two Two is 2+2+2 years old, the youngest of five he has to say everything twice to get himself heard. Desperate to be taken seriously, when Dad needs groceries Jacob bravely volunteers to go and buy them; so embarking on his first solo mission.


The quest goes horribly wrong when Jacob loses his nerve and runs off - straight into a ten-pound hanging salami.


He wakes up to find himself in court charged with the terrible crime of insulting a grown up. The Singing Judge, Rough Justice, sentences Jacob to Slimer's Island Children's Prison, presided over by none other than the gruesome Hooded Fang! But help is on its way in the form of the heroic Child Power Masters.


Escorted by the Fang's henchman, Miss Fowl and Mr Fish, Jacob arrives at the fog-bound, crocodile infested prison guarded by the Slimers where he meets the fearsome Hooded Fang. When the Child Power Masters fail to show on time (as usual) Jacob Two Two hatches a cunning plan and decides to take on the Hooded Fang himself!


Will he out-wit Fish and Fowl and the evil Slimers or will it be the Child Power Masters who save the day? All will be revealed in George Bloomfield's hilarious rendition of Mordecai Richler's classic childrens adventure, Jacob Two Two Meets the Hooded Fang.

London PR man Adam Schneider and his partner Phil Green sign the group to a management contract and promise to make them stars. They move to London, where they meet lots of other music people, and Julie falls in love with songwriter Mike Williams.





It all goes wrong for the band when their first release flops, and Julie turns down Adam Schneider's amorous advances. He is furious and vows that she will never work in the record industry again.





The band is disheartened and penniless. Mike walks out after a row and the Cadillacs go back to Liverpool. Julie stays on in London, working as a waitress in the Rivoli Restaurant.





Ten months later, Adam Schneider's former secretary Babs comes into the restaurant and spots Julie. She offers to try and get her work as a session singer making radio jingles.





In the recording studio a few weeks later Julie is reunited with Mike. Babs get their record away to Holland and the offers start flooding in.

In April of 1994 rock legend Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Pacific Northwest home, an apparent victim of suicide. Cobain, lead singer and songwriter for the seminal band Nirvana, touched the core of a generation with music that reflected the growth anguish, loneliness and confusion of growing up in a world shattered by unraveling families and values. His death, though foreshadowed by admitted troubles with drugs and depression, shocked the world.

Three years later, British filmmaker Nick Broomfield set out to make the first feature film about Cobain's tumultuous life, tragic death and very public romance with wife Courtney Love.

But Broomfield never got to make the film he wanted to make - due to restraint and interference by Love, her various media companies, agents and representatives. So, instead he made Kurt and Courtney - the story of how he tried to make a movie about Generation X's most famous lovers, the people he met and the powers that tried to stop him along the way.

Kurt and Courtney is not a rockumentary. In fact, Courtney Love prevented Broomfield from licensing all but one of Nirvana's songs. Instead, the film is a human mystery - an inquiry into how Cobain lived and more importantly, why it is that he died so young and so sorrowfully. But it is also an inquiry into the treacherous nature of fame, ambition and media control - and the role they played and continue to play in the legacies of Kurt and Courtney. Finally, the film has elements of a chase, as Broomfield and his kamikaze video crew attempt to find the elusive Courtney Love and get her to answer the questions they hoped she would volunteer to answer in the beginning.

Richard, at 22 has his life turned upside down during a burial in Bradford cemetery, when he meets Barbara, a beautiful young actress from Los Angeles. Leaving behind his inherited undertaker's business and well-meaning girlfriend he is destined to marry, Richard crosses the Atlantic in pursuit of love, adventure and a screenwriting career. As an Englishman abroad, Richard finds himself in situations that, seen from afar, are very funny, but close-up may prove tragic.


LA Without a Map is produced by Julie Baines and Sarah Daniel of UK based Dan Films. A stylish, fast-paced dramatic comedy, the film is directed by award-winning Mika Kaurismaki who also wrote the screenplay with Richard Rayner. The screenplay is adapted from Rayner's autobiographical cult hit novel - "Los Angeles Without a Map".
