Synopsis

Walton, North Liverpool. An area severely effected by austerity and home to the safest Labour seat in the country. Filmed over three-years by filmmakers who hail from the area, MANIFESTO is a first-hand account of grass-root community activism, depicting the work and effort that goes into party politics away from Westminster.
National topics - the NHS, education, the environment, worker’s rights, Brexit, internal selections and the 2019 General Election - monumental issues across society, are discussed and debated as Walton Constituency Labour Party campaign for change through Labour’s ‘For The Many’ manifesto.

Synopsis

In the early 1970s, acclaimed photojournalist Don McCullin photographed the area of Toxteth in Liverpool, capturing the area during an era of transition and decline.

Focussing on one photograph from his collection, a group of filmmakers from the area paint a contemporary portrait of the same postcode through the people who inhabit it today. From Turner Prize winning projects to a new generation of poets and artists, this film heads into the heart of the community to meet photographers, beekeepers, urban griots and the people that make Liverpool 8 a model example of a modern community.

A melting pot of cultures, people from all countries converge in an area as diverse as its population, where Georgian townhouses rub shoulders with social housing, and Mosques stand opposite Synagogues.

Synopsis

Every second Saturday in July the city of Durham is taken over by miners, trade-unions and the public for a major event known locally as "The Big Meeting". The Durham Miners' Gala is an annual celebration of noise, colour, culture, creativity, unity and endeavour. Attracting 200,000 people, banners and brass bands parade through the streets to honour their heritage. 'The Big Meeting' reflects the past, present and future of the Gala and labour movement, whilst following four protagonists over the course of this momentous working-class occasion.

A portrait of the socialist, trade unionist and Labour politician Dennis Skinner. Raised alongside nine siblings within a mining village, Dennis has fought for the rights of the working class for over 50-years and is known for his passion and wit within the House of Commons. 'Nature of The Beast' looks at what drives Dennis, examines his hinterland and tracks his rise from a local councillor to today, where he is one of Britain's most recognisable politicians - known as 'The Beast of Bolsover'
