Whatever led Bel to take her own life was also at the heart of what powered her music, it was a part of who she was. This film tells the story of an artist on the cusp of stardom and her sister Leah’s determination to fulfil Bel's dream: releasing her record and sharing her with the world.

Into this eerie world steps Leda, under cover, pretending to be a ghost-writer tasked with penning the memoirs of the estate’s previous owner: Jove Livingston who has passed away. A memorial event to celebrate Jove’s life is being held, an event that will be celebrated by a lavish dinner. Leda will discover the deep and terrible secrets of Ithaca. A revenger’s tragedy, set in a Downton Abbey-like world, portrayed through a hallucinogenic lens, with an almost fetishistic detail around the food, nature and wardrobe where the evil sins of the past are exposed and revenge is served up on a plate.

Increasingly unstable, traumatic memories of his past surface and he begins to have delusions about Kyla’s safety. In a bid for redemption, spurred on by the voices, Jamal has a psychotic meltdown. After a spell on a psychiatric ward, Jamal is discharged and returns to the block to start rebuilding his life. However, the presence of a deteriorating Kyla still disturbs him and he begins to spiral out of control again. He must learn to embrace his voices or continue to be diminished by them.

Conceived in relation to the cinema of Ingmar Bergman and Michael Haneke, the film locates meaning in the actor’s presence and in the organisation of cinematic form, rather than in dialogue or narrative guidance. This encounter is not a dialogue but a struggle: the effort to speak to a governing inner presence in order to loosen its hold. As the film unfolds, the confrontation moves deeper, toward a dark, underground interior where escape seems impossible.
