A bold, narrative-driven experience that immerses players in the hidden and haunting histories of anti-Blackness in the US and UK. This is an experience designed to be difficult – mentally and emotionally. Drawing from primary sources, historical records and scholarly analysis, CODED BLACK offers a journey through past atrocities and moments of triumph. Explore two distinct, atmospheric scenes – a plantation and a modern 20th-century city – each filled with real historical documents and audio visual storytelling. With a structure that surfaces different content in each run, CODED BLACK is a narrative crafted for both personal reflection and educational engagement. The game deals with the historical topic of slavery and racism, and therefore includes descriptions of violent acts, images of devices used for the chastisement of enslaved people, and archival imagery depicting victims of lynching. After being ghosted by a romantic partner during a trip to Bangkok, the artist situates a contemporary act within a timeless Southeast Asian ghost cultural gesture, transforming personal heartbreak into a surreal exploration of ghosthood while reimagining its embodiment through ten playful yet haunting guidelines. Shifting between satire and introspection, the film contemplates the fragility of relationships and the futility and opacity of communication in the hyper-connected digital age.

Haunted by unanswered questions about himself, Olly journeys through his past. His story unfolds in two starkly contrasting realms: the raw simplicity of his childhood, captured in his own drawings, and the fluid, surreal world of his dreams. As panic about the imminent decriminalisation of homosexuality rises, the media provides a mechanism beyond the judicial one of keeping gay men in their closets.

Synopsis

A poetic memoir and political report, shot in Berlin and Leipzig, and in landscapes around the British Isles. The film’s narrative builds out from the events of the Reichstag Fire in Berlin in 1933 in which the pioneering German-Jewish sound recordist, Ludwig Koch, on whom the film ultimately centres, plays a minor role, placing him and his family in danger. The film is structured in two parts, juxtaposing Koch’s persecution in Nazi Germany with his experiences as a refugee recording bird song and other sounds in Britain. The film’s images of contemporary urban and rural terrains, and of objects and documents, create a collision between past and present. Shifts in time are further emphasised through the use of Koch’s original sound recordings from Germany and Britain which feature throughout the film. A personal account of Black community spaces in the UK, focusing on Caribbean diaspora. By visiting the site of the former Keskidee Centre, that is now luxury apartments, the film considers the conditions which allowed this historical space to thrive. Synopsis

Exploring the perspective of a teenage, neurodivergent, working-class runaway, seeking refuge and sanctuary from a normative society, in the seemingly desolate dunelands of the Glamorgan coast. These dunes, until very recently, have been a disregarded and remote place, considered by all but a few enthusiasts to be little more than wasteland.

An interactive stationary VR experience that invites quiet reflection on nature, slowness, and change. It offers a moment to sit, observe, and influence the atmosphere in a peaceful, dreamlike virtual world. The experience places the audience on a hilltop, looking across at a lone tree gently swaying in the breeze on another hill. The audience can move their hands gently to influence the wind. The seasons cycle over the course of ten minutes, the visual and audio aesthetics shifting with the changes. The piece emerged from thinking about how nature changes quietly around us, often unnoticed. We invite the audience to consider how small gestures and moments connect us to the world’s larger cycles, and how ephemeral and fragile those cycles are.
