Synopsis

A small, closely-knit allotment community on the fringes of London experience unsettling, life-changing events after a mysterious stranger enters their midst. Aiden Salter is a budding nature writer living alone in a council block overlooking a small allotment on the edge of the city. A personality disorder keeps him shut up in his bedsit all day long, vicariously living through the lives of the plot-holders below who have formed a close-knit family of their own. The weekend Aiden enters their circle, police have earmarked the gardens for closure in three days following the disappearance of a local Ukrainian boy, and the grisly suicide of one of the plot-holders. Increasingly it appears Aiden himself, and Elsie Bierce, a controversial American publisher specialising in the occult, are at the heart of it all. On the eve of its imminent closure and the padlocking of its gates, 'Ourhaven' allotment, re-christened ‘Sourhaven’ by the local press after a glut of bad headlines, is about to unearth its diabolical secret.
